On Sunday morning, December 4, our pastor, Derk Madden, preached a message from
Luke 4 on the temptations of Jesus. One thing that really spoke to me was when he said that Jesus didn’t take the easy way out. He chose the cross so we could have a
relationship with Him. During the message he mentioned that we need a couple to
go to Uganda for a year to support the couple who works with the orphanage
& the pastor of the church planted last summer. At the end of the message
he said, “If you feel a stirring, come talk with me.”
Well,
I felt the Lord stirring my heart to go, but I told the Lord I would not say
anything unless Dennis mentioned it first. When we started to get up from our
seats at the end of the service, even before we were standing Dennis said, “Did
you feel a stirring?”, and I said, “Yes.” We knew then that God was calling us
to go back to Uganda. My one concern was Dennis health,
medical care, & medications because of his asthma. On Monday morning I read
the next chapter of Genesis, where I had been reading, & asked God to
confirm if He wanted us to go to Uganda through His Word. He gave me this
promise in Genesis 28:15, “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you
go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have
done what I have promised you.”
We spent the month of March getting things in order at home, with a week off with our kids & grandson in TX. April is being spent packing & re-packing, gathering info we will need to serve there.
We will be working with Project Hope Worldwide near Lira, Uganda, as support staff for the church & orphanage our church, Discovery Bible Fellowship started in 2010. You can check it out online at www.projecthopeworldwide.org. Discovery's website is discovertheone.com. We are in the process now of raising support for the trip. We appreciate everyone's prayers & support.
The missionaries who are currently serving in Lira have found a house for us to rent. It is unfurnished. We will need to buy furniture, appliances & household items after we arrive. We will also need a vehicle for transportation to & from the orphanage, about a 15 minute commute. If you'd like to support us you can do so online at www.projecthopeworldwide.org.
We plan to update this blog on a regular basis, so check back with us often.
Blessings,
Dennis & Margie
